Playboys And Playmen

September 16, 2014 by Sam Williamson

Last week I watched a nauseating, repulsive, and daft TV show. No, it wasn’t The Big Bang Theory or The Playboy Channel. (Or Barney.) I watched a …

The Death of Difference

September 3, 2014 by Sam Williamson

I’ve always loved playing devil’s advocate. Perhaps I’m just contrary (or maybe just the devil). I was delighted to discover that my differing nature …

The Curiosity Vacuum

Last week I slumped at my gate in an airport. Bored. Twenty-five more minutes until boarding, and I felt the tedium of the wait. How could I kill …

Spiritual Insanity

July 29, 2014 by Sam Williamson

A couple years ago I met with a twenty-eight-year-old woman who told me of a struggle she faced. She was dissatisfied. Growing up, she had sensible …

Spiritual Lobotomy

July 8, 2014 by Sam Williamson

I recently heard a Christian speaker say, “Thinking is the devil’s territory; I just want to experience God.” He continued, “Hearing God is a totally …

Let’s Become Emotional Christians

June 10, 2014 by Sam Williamson

I write Beliefs of the Heart to grow our intimacy with God, to help us all examine our deepest heart-beliefs. I am an orthodox believer, meaning my theology is consistent with Christian beliefs through the centuries. In fact, I believe that our current cultural moment clouds our beliefs, so we must continually examine our current,

fashionable beliefs–which are often unquestioned–in light of scriptural truth. I live in Brooklyn, MI, USA, with my wife. We have four grown children and an ever increasing number of grandchildren.
